It is important to emphasize that homelessness in Germany is a persistent problem. The term describes a situation in which the use of an apartment is not covered by a rental or lease contract, even if it is not available for other reasons, as the Federal Statistical Office explains. Homeless people are recorded annually who are accommodated in emergency accommodation or inpatient facilities in order to better understand the situation and to address the needs of those affected.
The emergency services quickly reacted in Pulheim-Brauweiler and prevented worse. Nevertheless, the incident remains a further indication of the challenges with which many people are faced with the homeless accommodation.
