Fack of driving license: Polish driver in Austria exposed!
A 40-year-old Pole was stopped in a traffic control in Austria after he was traveling from a friend on the highway during his journey home. According to orf.at , he not only handed the officials out of his Polish identity papers, but also a Romanian driver's license that was exposed as fake. In his survey, the driver confessed that he had bought the fake driver's license online for several hundred euros. In addition, it turned out that there was an arrest warrant from the public prosecutor's office due to a car theft from the year before in the Stuttgart area. His vehicle, a VW, was legally acquired.
The legal situation on the road traffic regulations in Poland has drastically intensified. From January 1, 2022, new, strict regulations apply, which according to Anwalt.de significantly increase the fines for traffic violations. For example, violations can now be brought up to 15 points at the same time, and the maximum height of the fines has been raised from 500 PLN to 5000 PLN - this corresponds to around 1100 euros. A driver who drives 31 km/h in urban areas must expect around 180 euros the first time, the second time with 360 euros. A particularly serious violation, such as an exceeding by 51 km/h, can cause costs of up to 860 euros.
strict new regulations
The regulations in Poland became so strict that almost every driver can collect up to 24 points for repeated violations before the driver's license is withdrawn. Once collected points, two years remain and are no longer deleted after one year, as was the case before.
