FPÖ politician: Vienna must not become our fate!”
FPÖ security spokesman LAbg. Martin Antauer made critical comments about the Greens and Neos in a recent statement. His focus is on the amendment to the law “Political Islam Action Plan”, which he believes is being trivialized by these political forces. Antauer emphasizes that an unvarnished look at certain districts and schools in Vienna is necessary to recognize the reality of the situation. He also expresses concern that Lower Austria should not share the fate of Vienna, where the problem of political Islam is already entrenched. Antauer particularly names “woke politicians” who do not recognize the need for a committed fight against these ideologies after terrorist attacks in Europe as responsible actors for this naivety.
The FPÖ is vehemently committed to a tough course against radical Islam. In Lower Austria, harsh penalties are to be introduced for spreading Islamist ideologies. An absolute ban on the burqa in state service is one of the central measures of the action plan that the FPÖ wants to implement as part of its election promises. In addition, the ÖVP is criticized for blocking concrete steps against political Islam. FPÖ homeland security spokesman Michael Schnedlitz describes political Islam as a serious danger to the population.
Action plan and measures
The action plan's measures also include the call for a law prohibiting political Islam, which aims to close radical structures and establish a zero-tolerance policy towards parallel and counter-societies. Effective protection of security, culture and identity also requires a stop to illegal mass immigration. The planned amendment to the law in the Lower Austrian state parliament is intended to specifically advance the implementation of these goals.
A central element of the legal package of measures is the parents' obligation to cooperate in kindergarten. Parents who refuse mandatory parent-teacher meetings face fines of up to 2,500 euros; if they are not collected, they face a prison sentence of up to six weeks. This is intended to ensure that civil values are consolidated in the context of education and upbringing and that respect for cultural norms is learned.
Security architecture tools
Another aspect of the planned law is the establishment of an observatory for radical Islam. This position will be used to record developments and document the need for action. The burqa ban is also being stipulated as a reason for dismissal in the state service to ensure that people with connections to radical Islamist organizations are excluded from public office. Compliance with these regulations should be enforced through consequences such as terminations.
The FPÖ is calling on the federal government to urgently support a comprehensive ban on political Islam. Antauer sees this as an essential measure to keep citizens' lives safe and to protect the country's traditions and values. All of these initiatives are intended to massively curb the dangers of radical Islam and arm society against extremist influences.
As Antauer concludes, the possibility of adopting a zero-tolerance attitude towards Islamism in Austria needs to be discussed more in order to be able to effectively meet the challenges of the present. The steps now taken could be a first step in the right direction.
