EU Commission: Fight for the bees - an order for our future!

On June 19, 2025, the EU Parliament treated the last agenda item to secure bee and pollinator protection. The EU Commission presented new measures as part of the so-called "Deals for pollarber". The main goal of this initiative is to reverse the decline of bees and other pollers by 2030. This is done by improving the preservation of habitats and the creation of ecological corridors, which are intended to help the pollers move and thrive.

One of the main causes for the loss of pollares is the excessive use of pesticides. In a current statement, the Lower Austrian SPÖ-EU MP, Günther Sidl, called for sustainable agriculture that does not require pesticides. He criticized the inconsistent policy of the EU Commission with regard to the reduction of pesticides and the approval of glyphosate. In addition, he appealed to the need to provide farmers in environmentally friendly and at the same time profitable labor instruments.
