Chaos through bomb threats: Swiss suspect remains at large!

The case of a 20-year-old Swiss citizen who caused excitement against facilities in Austria last autumn with numerous bomb threats. After his arrest, however, the investigation was stopped abruptly because Switzerland does not want to deliver it to Austria. Despite an enacted European arrest warrant, the suspect remains at large, since the accused is lacking approval on the part of the accused, as the St. Gallen public prosecutor said. This situation ensures incomprehension among the Austrian authorities, which are dependent on the legal cooperation with Switzerland in order to continue the case, as the APA reports.

A total of 27 bomb threats have been registered, which, as the Linz public prosecutor confirms, have been sent to various regional authorities by email. Stations of the train stations, schools and shopping centers were particularly affected, which led to massive impairments in train traffic. According to the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the threats had chaotic effects - around 690 trains were affected, which led to a total of over 29,000 minutes delays. The investigation showed that the formulations of the threats were very similar, which caused the suspicion of an identical perpetrator at an early stage

The judiciary must act

The St. Gallen authorities have carried out a house search for the suspect, but so far they have not taken over the procedure because they are waiting for documents from Austria. The responsible representative of the Linz public prosecutor emphasizes that Switzerland is practically forced to take over the procedure should not be possible. The threats that began last year and particularly gained intensity with the bomb threats on September 30th affect daily life and security in Austria, as the reporting of SRF.CH.
