Martina Parker has made a name for itself with her garden thrillers. The last volume of her book series, "Unit", which appeared in summer, revolved around the "Picture On" festival in Bildein and became a sensation. The demand was so great that the publisher had a special edition printed that was quickly out of print. In August the book even became the best -selling title in Austria.
The author's career started four years ago at the kitchen table in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. During the Lockdown, she asked the so -called Monday question on social media to learn more about her preferences from her readers. "It's a bit like the secret of success of these stories. The readers feel picked up and can well imagine the area and the characters. The dialogues are like from real life," explains Parker.

Martina Parker is a passionate Burgenlander. Her books have won a loyal readership that regularly flows to South Burgenland. A reader was so enthusiastic that she even moved to the region to live where her favorite stories play. Parker previously worked as head of the beauty line at the first women's magazine in Austria for 24 years and was able to live in many metropolises. But none of these places brings her as much joy as her home: "It's totally beautiful. Paris, New York, London - but I prefer to be on the farmers' market in Oberwart, meet my garden friends and just enjoy life here," she enthuses.
On the national holiday, Martina Parker will represent her Südburgenland at the big event "9 places - 9 treasures". Your love for the region and all of Austria shows up in her stories. She knows the beauties of Podersdorf, including its most famous landmark, exactly: "You go to the lake, get on board and suddenly it is only summer, peace. I smell the scent of sun oil and taste a twini," she enthuses
