The Tannermoor: a haven of calm and keeping nature in Upper Austria

When hiking through the Tannermoor, you experience a unique connection to nature. The gentle paths, lined with bright lichen and magical mosses, invite you to pause and marvel at the variety of flora. Info -soils along the route offer exciting insights and reveals a lot of interesting facts about this special protected area.

Since 2019, the renaturation of the Tannermoor, an undertaking that proves to be extremely important for the preservation of this moor landscape. Installation trenches are thawed to keep the water in the bog and prevent it from drying out. Such measures are not only necessary, they also show the remarkable use of conservationists who are strongly promoting such ecosystems.

treasures and challenges

The Tannermoor is also one of the three places nominated by Upper Austria as "9 treasures, 9 places". But this award not only brings fame, but also challenges. It remains questionable whether the large number of visitors are good. Experiences from other areas, such as the Willersdorfer Gorge, show that the excess of tourists often leaves a streak. Personally, I collected various cigarette buttocks and garbage during my hike, because even at rest areas where there are trash cans, it is often carelessly disposed of. This observation does not leave you cold and stimulates thinking about the responsibility of each individual.

At the same time, the positive impressions during my hike outweigh. The light that fell through the trees dived everything in beautiful colors and constantly changed the landscape. Sometimes slippers dominate, sometimes other tree species. A moving discovery was the information board about the clearing in the context of the bog renaturation. The words "so that the moor can recover, the trees are removed" impressively imposed impression. They symbolize hope and the pursuit of healing - not only for the bog, but also for humans and nature.

Especially the idiosyncratic mood in the moor - soft and gentle - immediately captivates. You can feel the flexible floor and hear the quiet rippling of the water under your feet. On my next visit I plan to go barefoot to experience the feeling of nature even more intensely.

an impressive experience

Although I initially planned to master the entire round tour of 4.5 km, I quickly found myself at the starting point due to an inaccurate sign. But that was no reason to hurry. The moor nourishes my soul, and I decided to go the way back on the same way and thus let the impressions work on me again in peace. Ultimately, my hike extended to almost 7.5 km and lasted almost four hours. This hike was undoubtedly the highlight of my year.

Nature is a remarkable work of art, and I hope that my photos can capture a little of the beauty of the Tannermoor. It is enriching to experience such places and share the stories of nature with others.
