Rescue from the air: New helicopter base in Frauenkirchen
In Frauenkirchen, a new base for the rescue helicopter "Christophorus 18" is currently being built. According to the current construction plans, the work should be completed in January 2025, so that the base can be put into operation promptly. This new location is considered a significant addition to the existing infrastructure in the flight rescue of the Burgenland.
The comprehensive equipment of the base is designed to ensure fast response times and effective medical care through modern technology. As the representative of the executive construction company, Gerhard Roll von Pinetz Bau, announced, everything runs according to plan. "After the same roof, we are now focusing on the interior design and the technical equipment that is required for a rescue helicopter." In addition to the landing site, humus is also applied to the lawn.
important purpose for the region
Currently Christophorus 18 has an interim location at the East Airfield in Wiener Neustadt. Four pilots, nine flight rescue workers and 25 emergency doctors, all of whom are ready to react quickly in Northern Burgenland. Mayor Maximilian Köllner emphasizes that the central location in Frauenkirchen can significantly shorten the flight times for locations and hospitals and thus save lives in emergencies.
The commissioning of the new base in January 2025 will represent a milestone and improve emergency care in the region. "We are pleased that the new location makes important progress in medical care and rescue technology," emphasizes Mayor Kilian Brandstätter. The new helicopter location will not only increase efficiency, but also improve the safety of citizens in Burgenland.
