New life for the organ in Rohrbach: A celebration of music and community!
A musical miracle in Rohrbach becomes reality: After 15 years of waiting, the parishioners were able to inaugurate the new organ in their church on Sunday. Supported by numerous donations and grants, the impressive instrument, which had its history in the Franciscan monastery of Reute in Bavaria, is now shining. Eduard Kutrowatz played the new sounds, while his daughter, the soprano Miriam Kutrowatz, enriched the festive setting with her voice. The new organ, equipped with 1,072 metal and wooden pipes, is ideal not only for liturgical use, but also for concerts, such as ORF Burgenland reported.
An organ builder with passion
Kurt Hartl, an experienced organ builder who has helped build many organs in Austria and beyond over the last 30 years, talks about his extraordinary career. He gained experience in different countries and was part of the construction of the largest church organ in the world in Passau. "I am a musician and played the piano with the boys' choir," said Hartl, "but I am not an organist. However, I understand the material behind these instruments," he explained as he looked back on his career My district reported.
His commitment to organ building is reflected in the construction of the organ in his home parish, which he helped design in the early 1990s. Emphasis was placed on traditional craftsmanship by using wooden joints instead of screws. After Hartl made the transition to become a teacher at a polytechnic school, he brought his extensive knowledge of wood technology and construction technology there. “It's a nice feeling to have helped build such an instrument,” he says, looking forward to his experiences and the many projects in which he was involved.
