New SPÖ chairman Schennach: Strong voice for rental price brake!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - The Vienna Federal Councilor Stefan Schennach was elected today with a unanimous decision as the new chairman of the Social Democratic Federal Council faction. The election took place during the parliamentary group meeting, in which Mario Trinkl and Thomas Schmid was also appointed as federal councilors from Burgenland and Martina Ludwig-Faymann as Federal Councilor from Vienna. Schennach succeeds Korinna Schumann, the new Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. In his first explanation, Schennach was pleased with the trust that was shown to him, and emphasized the role of the SPÖ Federal Council Group as a strong voice of the countries.
Schennachs political agenda
Stefan Schennach, who has been active in the Federal Council for over a decade and has previously taken on numerous political functions, sees his new tasks as a course for the future. He spoke out for a rental price stop 2025 and a rental price brake for private rents, both measures that are considered important steps against inflation. These initiatives are part of the political agenda, which the SPÖ was able to enforce in the last negotiations, including topics such as banking and contributions from energy corporations to the socially balanced budget renovation.
Schennach, whose political career is characterized by a passion for digitization and social justice, has also set itself the goal of changing the European Parliament in the direction of a social union. As spokesman for the area, his interests extend from research funding to the areas of network policy and European cooperation. The next steps of Schennach are crucial not only for the SPÖ, but also for the future orientation of Austrian politics, such as spoe.at reported.
