Schattendorf chooses: Children decide on Christmas lights

In the picturesque community of Schattendorf, the pre -Christmas period experienced a special shine. The decision on how the new Christmas lights are supposed to shine in the streets fell in a democratic way that covered both adults and the children. The entire population had the opportunity to choose from four festive motifs, and in a second step the youngest parishes were allowed to have the last word.

The joy of the Advent season was noticeable in Schattendorf when the new Christmas lights were installed in good time before the first Advent. An innovative online voting allowed the citizens to give their vote and actively shape the appearance of their place of residence. This democratic process not only strengthened cohesion in the community, but also created a feeling of participation.

a highlight for the latest

After the pre -selection by the entire population, children from kindergarten and elementary school were able to decide between the two most popular motifs in a election in the municipal office. This unique opportunity to experience democracy up close was recorded with great enthusiasm. With an exciting countdown, the new lighting was put into operation, and the motif "Star Pole" was chosen as the winner.

The children had the opportunity to enjoy the newly blamed ambience on a walk. Mayor Thomas Hoffmann expressed his joy about the active participation of the children: "It fulfills me with joy to see how our youngest actively participated in this process. This is lived citizen participation and a wonderful example of how we can shape our community together."

a festive experience

The small electorate received sweet treats and warming drinks as a reward for their participation, which perfectly rounded off the festive atmosphere. Schattendorf now shines with a new, energy -efficient lighting in a festive splendor. This wonderful light show would like to invite the residents and visitors alike to enjoy the contemplative time together and to share the anticipation for Christmas.

In the community, an impressive sign of living citizen participation was set. The success of this project shows how important it is to involve all age groups in decision -making and to actively shape community life. The lively reactions of the children are a positive sign that a committed community will continue to grow together in the future.
