Discover contemporary poetry: reading with Paris and Brandt in Mattersburg
On Thursday, October 10th, an exciting poetry evening takes place in the Mattersburg Literaturhaus, which offers impressions and new perspectives on contemporary poetry. The two renowned poets Frieda Paris and Timo Brandt present their current works and invite the audience to explore the poems.
Frieda Paris presents her collection “Nachwasser”, which was influenced by the famous poet Friederike Mayröcker. Her debut enjoyed great popularity and was represented on the leaderboards of ORF and SWR for a long time. Paris has now been nominated for the debut award of the Austrian Book Prize, an award that pays special recognition to young talents of literature.
A look at the works
Timo Brandt, who also introduces his poetry volumes "imitations", is known for curating poems for the renowned newspaper of the standard. With his work, he not only inspires readers, but also other poets. In their reading, both writers deepen the topic of the complexity of the poem and the influence that other poetry has on their own writing.
