Flu wave rolls on: infections rise all over Austria!
The flu spreads alarmingly quickly in Austria! According to current reports from the Center for Virology of the MedUni Vienna, most federal states show a significant increase in influenza cases. So far, no flu viruses have so far been proven in Vorarlberg, Salzburg and Carinthia. Some individual cases were registered in Burgenland, while the other federal states are affected by repeated infections. The numbers are alarming: In the calendar week 50, the infection rate was 2,224 per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase compared to 1,909 per 100,000 in the previous week, such as oe24.at reported.
population and health in focus
The increasing influenza numbers are particularly important if you look at the population distribution in the federal states. Accompanying the flu wave, the Statista study on the population in the German federal states shows a similar situation: a high population density can favor the spread of viruses. With its many densely populated areas, Austria is particularly susceptible to such outbursts. It is therefore essential to take precautions and promote vaccinations to reduce the number of infections. Further insights into the Statista population survey illustrate how important it is to improve health care in the metropolitan areas and to implement preventive measures.
The increasing activity of influenza and the associated health risks require immediate attention from doctors and the public. It remains to be seen how the coming weeks will be and whether further measures are necessary to contain the spread of the flu.
