Landtag election 2024: Neos on success course, KPÖ is still looking for candidates
The parties are currently preparing Neos and KPÖ for the upcoming state election on January 19. Both parties are in the process of collecting declarations of support in order to meet the necessary prerequisites for their candidacy in Burgenland. A total of 180 signatures are required to compete nationwide.
At NEOS, state spokesman Christoph Schneider has already been determined as a top candidate. In several districts, however, signatures still have to be collected in order to overcome the hurdles for a nationwide participation. In the past, NEOS failed twice at the four percent hurdle for moving into the state parliament, but after the recent election successes in Styria, the team sees optimistic into the future.
neos as a control in the state parliament
In an interview, Schneider expressed that the current surveys are not particularly interested in. It is more important to him to get in touch with people and to experience their opinions directly. "We feel the tailwind either way. Now we will lift our wings that we really fly into the state parliament," he said. Neos presents itself as a "control force" in the state parliament and emphasizes that it is time for a real opposition that looks at the upcoming government.
Speaking of finances: The parties may spend a maximum of 300,000 euros in the election campaign. Schneider is confident that the election campaign cost limit for the NEOs is not a problem. The financial resources were disclosed before the election campaign. "We are grateful for this regulation, since it is ensured by the fact that tax money is used responsibly," said the state spokesman.
