Burgenland's new collecting taxi: flexible and on time to the destination!

The Burgenland call-collection taxi "Bast" revolutionizes local public transport in the region by closing gaps in the line offer and attracting more than 3,000 passengers a week, as the Burgenland transport company report. Users can book the bast if there is no regular bus or train for 30 minutes before or after the desired departure time. This flexible service is designed especially for trips from stop to stop and costs as much as a conventional bus ride. Various booking options enable trips to organize trips up to 30 days in advance, which offers passengers additional planning security.

uncomplicated booking and reliable service

The trips are booked by phone and must be made at least an hour before departure. This was checked in tests of the bast both in the district of Eisenstadt-Umgebung as well as in Oberpullendorf and Oberwart. In a test case, the booking was easily made, but the collecting taxi was no longer available at the desired time, which led to a later descent. However, the trip to the stop in Donnerskirchen was simple and pleasant because the bast was on time and the driver was friendly. Another example showed that the departure was tailored to the bus connection in Lockenhaus, whereby the changeover was well organized and the entire transport only lasted about 20 minutes longer than by car.

According to Managing Director Wolfgang Werderits, the offer is gratifyingly accepted, especially in the Neusiedl district, while Eisenstadt-Umgeben still has growth potential. The increase in passenger numbers is a clear indication of the success of this innovative promotion concept. The availability of over 3,700 stops in 171 Burgenland communities strengthens accessibility and offers passengers a convenient and timely solution for their mobility needs, such as burgenland.orf.at and Bast Burgenland confirm.
