Burgenland celebrates the red-gold grape: the best wines of the year
The third edition of the red-gold grape was celebrated this week in Burgenland, a respected wine award that attracts numerous celebrities. Wines were awarded in nine different categories at the festive ceremony in the Csello mill in Oslip, Eisenstadt-Umgebung district. The gala evening attracted over 150 guests who celebrated the best wines in the region.Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) emphasized that enjoyment and wine play an important role in Burgenland and are the main reason for many tourists to visit the region. "Die Rot-Goldene Traube" is a central marketing instrument of wine tourism Burgenland, as well as Herbert Oschep, the chairman of Wein Burgenland. Over 20 percent of visitors come to the region, especially because of the wine, and the booming wine tourism is to be further strengthened by various activities.

The wine award included a variety of categories. All Burgenland quality wines with general and specific origin were approved. The winners in the nine categories 2024 are:

- category 2: Weißburgunder and Chardonnay JG 2023 - Weingut Pillinger, Mönchhof
- category 3: aromatic diversity, yellow muscateller 2023 - Weingut Steindorfer, Apetlon
- category 4: white wine from a single song, Chardonnay Ried Steinnelke 2022 - Remushitz winery, Oslip
- category 5: Rosé, Rosé Reserve 2023 - Seegut Lentsch, Podersdorf
- category 6: red wine pure, Blaufränkisch 2022 - Wimmer winery, Oggau
- category 7: red wines from a single song, Leithaberg DAC Blaufrenkisch Ried Ruster Upper Forest 2021- Weingut Feiler-Artinger, Rust
- category 8: cuvée, Bela Rex 2020 - Weingut Gesellmann, Deutschkreutz
- Category 9: Botrytis-Süßweine, dry berry outdoor Ried Neufeld 2021- Gangl winery, Illmitz
The wine-touristic concept of the year
A special award was awarded with the title "Wine Tourist Concept of the Year". The domestic tourism companies and wineries were able to submit innovative ideas and projects to further promote the wine region. The winner in this category is the cross field wine from the Piribauer winery. There were also several finalists, including the wine and pleasure festival in the St. Martins Therme and Lodge as well as the "Wine with foresight" initiative from the Gols viticulture association.
The red-gold grape is therefore not only recognition for excellent wines, but also an important event to promote wine tourism in Burgenland. This event, which was expected with a lot of anticipation, is viewed as a key measure to further focus on the beauty and quality of the Burgenland wines.
