Brutal attack on 88-year-old: masked men tie up pensioners in Oberloisdorf!
A violent attack on an 88-year-old pensioner in Oberloisdorf, Oberpullendorf district, is causing excitement in Burgenland. The attack happened around 12:30 p.m. when the pensioner was returning home after shopping and waiting for his drinks delivery person. Suddenly the doorbell rang. When the senior opened the door, he was attacked with pepper spray and overpowered by two masked men.
The perpetrators knocked down the pensioner, bound and gagged him before searching the house for cash and valuables. The pensioner had to wait helplessly in the anteroom while his attackers searched the house. It wasn't until around 2:30 p.m. when the beverage delivery driver arrived that the injured man was discovered. According to Krone, the senior was unable to free himself and the perpetrators had already fled when the emergency services arrived.
Intensive investigations
The exact amount of the loot is currently unclear and the injured pensioner was taken to hospital. Due to his condition, his interrogators were initially unable to obtain information from him. Specialists have already begun to examine the house for traces in order to secure clues to the perpetrators. The investigations are being continued intensively, as Kosmo reports.
Violence against older people, as the attack on the pensioner shows, is a serious social problem. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, this violence includes many forms, including physical attacks, financial exploitation, neglect and psychological abuse. Such violence often goes unnoticed or is not perceived as such, which makes it difficult for those affected to seek help.
Prevention measures and offers of help
The Ministry of Social Affairs is actively committed to preventing violence against older people. Awareness of this topic is intended to be raised through educational initiatives, workshops and advisory services. During the three-year traveling exhibition “Stop – No Violence!” Important information and support options are covered. There is also a helpline available at the Pro Senectute Austria association, which can be reached on +43 699 11 20 00 99.
The incident in Oberloisdorf highlights the dangers that older people are exposed to. Society is called upon to work to protect and support this vulnerable group. It remains to be hoped that the attack will be solved quickly and the perpetrators will be held responsible.
