Brass music conquers the TV stage: Austria's talents wanted!

The ORF brings a breath of fresh air into the world of brass music! 20,000 enthusiastic musicians provided unforgettable goosebumps at the legendary “Woodstock of Brass Music 2024” when they performed “Don’t Stop Believin’” together. Now the ORF is planning to bring the energy and diversity of this style of music live to TV with the successful show “The Big Chance”. Under the motto “Brass music for everyone”, all Austrian woodwind and brass players are invited to show their talents and get a place on the big stage OTS reported.

Whether funk, folk music, classical or pop – brass music knows no boundaries! Participation is open to everyone: bands and solo artists of all ages can now apply online. The highlight? A total of 50,000 euros in prize money and performances at the “Brass Music Woodstock” in 2026 are at stake. The show will be presented in four episodes and two live shows in autumn 2025 by presenters Fanny Stapf and Andi Knoll.

Brass music without limits – Burgenland is joining in!

The focus is also on the anniversary of the Burgenland Brass Music Association: 64 music clubs from Burgenland are taking part in the “Blasmusik Burgenland Digital 2025” initiative to professionally record their pieces in the ORF state studio. In addition to traditional sounds, modern Austropop melodies are also not neglected. These recordings will be presented as part of the “Radio Burgenland Brass Music Parade”. In an exciting online voting, listeners can choose their favorites from the clubs presented, with the three best groups being able to perform live at the “Radio Burgenland Frühschoppen” on July 13, 2025. The brass band association is pleased with the ORF's support, which helps to preserve and promote the region's cultural identity. This is a big step towards updating Burgenland brass music and connecting generations through music.
