Picture book celebrates 20 years: Spectacular show in the Wiener Stadthalle!

Wien, Österreich - On April 25, 2025, the Austrian band Picture Book celebrated its 20th anniversary in the Wiener Stadthalle. The appearance, which lasted over two hours, offered the fans a rousing mix of rock and psychedelic sounds. In particular, the opening with the song "Softpower" created an energetic mood. Under the impressive intro, which included siren-like sounds and flame thrower on the LED wall, Frontmann Maurice Ernst welcomed the audience with provocative words that arrived well

The band, which was founded in 2005 by four monastery students in Upper Austria, has been one of the most influential groups in the Austrian pop landscape ten years ago since its breakthrough with the album "Schick Shock". Known for their change from Indierock to an innovative sound, integrated their 2013-released EP "Finest Seide" hip-hop elements, which shaped the band's style sustainably. Singer Ernst compared himself to Rihanna and was very extroverted in the interaction with the 10,000 fans.

a versatile concert

The show not only included newer songs such as "Dino", but also classics such as the hit "Machino", which was sung loudly by the fans. Negative noticed that the volume was sometimes too high, so that subtleties were lost in the sound. Nevertheless, picture book presented itself as a strong live performance, and the band is often regarded together with Wanda as one of the leading forces in Austrian pop.

A highlight of the concert was the song "Bungalow", which impresses with its versatility. The first third of the appearance was characterized by sound collages that encouraged more to sway than to freak out. The band was supported by Lukas König, a jazz musician who initially played drums and later switched to the keyboards.
