Alcohol consumption on a skiing holiday: 200,000 drunk people endanger the slopes!
Österreich - Austria's winter sports world plunges into chaos annually - and not just because of the snow -covered slopes! An alarming study by the Board of Trustees for Road Safety (KFV) reveals that almost every fourth respondent (23 percent) was drunk on the ski slopes last year. Particularly frightening: Every tenth person regularly consumes alcohol during winter sports! As reports krone.at , there are at least 200,000 people in Austria who ski or tobogganing annually, which not only puts them, but also others.
Danger from alcohol and drugs
The dark field study shows that 13 percent of those surveyed rarely consume alcohol in winter sports, while 77 percent may not reveal their actual consumption. This alcohol abuse leads to dangerous driving mode and reduces the reaction speed enormously. Johanna Trauner-Karner from the KFV warns: "Those who drink experience different impairments. Some drive carelessly, others are tired." Four out of ten respondents even suspected that other people were on the slopes under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which increases the risk of accidents significantly, as tirol.orf reports.
Waslooking for a way out of this dilemma? Trauner-Karner advises: "It is perfectly fine to make a stopover in between, but the consumption of alcohol should urgently be postponed after skiing. Light snacks and alcohol-free drinks during sports can make a big contribution to security."
