425 years of Hotel Stefanie: Vienna's oldest hospitality celebrated!
Taborstraße 12, 1020 Wien, Österreich - On July 9, 2025, the Hotel Stefanie in Vienna celebrates a remarkable anniversary: it will be 425 years old. The hotel was founded on July 8, 1600 under the name "White Rose" and has established itself as the oldest hotel in the city since then. The family -run hotel will be managed by the Schick family in the fourth generation. The current managing director, Dr. Martin Schick has been running the house for over 30 years and has a clear vision for the future, because his son Dr. Alexander Schick is ready to follow his father's footsteps. Over the centuries, the hotel has changed from its original location outside the city wall to its current central location near the city center.
The hotel today offers 111 renovated rooms and is a popular meeting place for business travelers, tourists as well as for families and newlywed couples. The atmosphere of the hotel is described as particularly remarkable by Peter Buocz, the long -time hotel director. Hotel Stefanie is not only a place of accommodation, but also part of Viennese history that offers travelers an authentic Viennese hospitality.
a long tradition
Before it was given the name "Hotel Stefanie", the hotel was taken over by Carl Witzmann in 1888, the great -grandfather of Dr. Martin Schick. The new name is a tribute to the wedding of Crown Prince Rudolf and Stephanie of Belgium. Contemporary witnesses report that the hotel housed mostly travelers from the crown countries during the monarchy. This historical importance makes the hotel a significant flagship of the Viennese culture.
The "Stefanie" restaurant not only offers authentic Viennese cuisine, but also has a cozy court garden that invites you to linger. Events and seminars also take place on the rooms around the hotel that complement the extraordinary design and the hotel's art collection. Among other things, there are works of art such as a portrait replica of Empress Maria Theresia and the original room key of the court treasurer by Emperor Franz Joseph in the collection of Dr. Martin Schick.
part of the Vienna hospitality
The Schick Hotels Group, which includes the Hotel Stefanie, comprises five four star hotels and two restaurants, which employs a total of around 170 employees. This structure enables the service standards to be high and offering guests an unforgettable experience. OTS emphasizes that the Hotel Stefanie is not only a place to spend the night, but also a place of social exchange and intergenerational encounter.
Overall, the Hotel Stefanie is not only an important historical building in Vienna, but also a symbol of tradition and hospitality in a city that is known for both. The celebrations on the occasion of the 425th birthday are therefore not only an occasion to celebrate, but also an appreciation of a long history of Viennese hospitality.
