Premiere of the torn füchsin: applause for brave new production!

Linz, Österreich - On March 30, 2025, the opera “The Rissed Füchsin” by Leoš Janáček premiered in the Linz music theater. This staging, under the musical direction of Markus Poschner with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, received a lot of applause from the audience. The new text version comes from Peter Konwitschny and Christoph Blitt, who decided to modernize the work comprehensively.

The action was moved to an American slum, supplemented by a stage design by Timo Dentler, which shows shabby house ruins, instead of the usually child -friendly forest romanticism. Konwitschny criticized Max Brod's original translation, which in his opinion had played down. In the new staging, the Füchsin is portrayed as heroin -addicted prostitutes and fearless feminist. Vulgar texts reinforce the sad atmosphere.

modern topics and characters

The modernized version addresses hard social realities such as men's fantasies, street violence and the struggle for survival. The staging was described as an ruthless parabola about life and dying in nature. The actors Carina Tybjerg Madsen were emphasized as a foxin and Adam Kim as forester, both of which acted and confidently acted.

For additional accents, three state theater choirs and nine break dancers on stage, which added a dynamic component to the events. The use of the break dancers and the children's choir in particular was considered with special applause. The musical performance was described as a sound painting that reflects the melancholic reality of life in large cities. Poschner avoids a sweet interpretation of the music in his interpretation, which is in line with the direction.

enthusiasm and outlook

The audience reacted enthusiastically to the staging, which was described as refreshingly experimentally and courageously. The opera is not only performed on the premiere evening, but also has further appointments in the music theater Linz, including April 3rd, 16th and 2nd, 19th, 30th and June 2025.
