Spontaneous singing in Seeboden: the audience determines the concert!

An exciting event by MGV Seeboden took place on May 14, 2025, which surprised spectators with an innovative concept. The performance included a fixed opening block, followed by further program parts that were selected live by the audience. In total, the men's choir prepared 45 songs, which the singers presented spontaneously and without notes. Choir director Robert Lücking accompanied the performances on the piano, which made the concert experience a unique one.

The interactivity at this event showcased not only the musical talents of the singers, but also the enthusiasm and ingenuity of the audience. Such concepts, which actively involve the audience, take choral singing to a new level while providing a captivating experience.

The tradition of choral singing

Choirs are not only an important part of musical culture, but also promote a sense of community and cultural identity. This is particularly clear in the history of the men's choir in Limburgerhof. Founded in 1903, it brought joy and entertainment to many hearts over the decades until its dissolution in 2012, which was due to a sharp decline in membership. But the love of music remained, and on the occasion of the 110th anniversary in 2013, the idea of a men's project choir was brought to life.

This project choir was aimed at former members and interested men in order to renew old acquaintances and make new friends. The result was the founding of the new mixed choir community “No Limits”, in which many former members remain active and the male singing tradition is kept alive.

Promotion and support in choral singing

The Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC) plays an important role in supporting choirs. With the aim of promoting musical understanding and technical skills, the VDKC not only offers financial support, but also further training opportunities for choir directors and singers. Events and competitions organized by the association help to further develop artistic quality.

Engaging in choral singing has numerous benefits; it strengthens cognitive abilities such as memory and concentration, promotes social contacts and expression of creativity. Even in the age of digital media, choirs have expanded their presence by publishing their music via streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube and offering virtual concerts.

Thus, choral singing remains a living element of culture that has deep roots and constantly reinterprets its traditions while enriching the community.
