Art festivals in Linz: 200 artists show their works and messages!
This week in Linz, Traun and Steyr is all about art! From March 21st to 28th, the “nextcomic” festival will present over 200 artists with a total of 33 exhibitions at twelve locations. “Be yourself, believe in yourself and you can do anything!” is the central message the festival communicates while encouraging comic artists to address critical issues of our time. Gottfried Gusenbauer, the artistic director, emphasizes that comics offer a valuable platform to address various social issues. An outstanding example is provided by the artist Jana Marie Dauer, who worked for two years on her graphic novel “Auerhaus,” which deals with suicidality and the challenges of life in order to promote conversation and understanding. Digital art is also illuminated by student designers in the Ars Electronica Center, where contemporary media interacts with the museum's facade.
A celebration of textiles
At the same time, on November 20th, the Traun City Gallery will celebrate the art of textile crafts with the exhibition “Four-Sided – Versatile”. With their hand-woven tapestries, the artists Beate Luger-Goyer, Gabriele Petri, Anneliese Schuber and Lisa Thurner pay homage to the art of tapestry, which has become rare. Her works shine through technical finesse and artistic expression, which impress with color and structural harmony. “Four-Sided” not only refers to the shape of these impressive works of art, but also to the diversity of perspectives that each artist captures in her carpets. The careful handwork on the loom requires both skill and patience from the artists, which is clear from the feel and special surface structure of the tapestries. Visitors to the gallery, located at Hauptplatz 1 in Traun, can immerse themselves in this fascinating textile world from Tuesday to Sunday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m tips.at reported in detail.
While the “nextcomic” festival appeals to families with its extensive program and stimulates reflection through numerous artistic experiences, the exhibition in Traun shows the historical significance and modern relevance of tapestry art. Both events shed light on the creativity and diversity of artistic creation in the region and invite you to discover the different facets of art and experience what it has to offer orf.at is impressively supported.
