Kayaker is swallowed by whale and spat out triumphantly!
Last Saturday, a spectacular scene, described by many as a “miracle,” took place off the coast of Punta Arenas, in southern Chile. Kayak professional Adrián Simancas was training when a huge baleen whale suddenly emerged from the water and swallowed him and his kayak. The entire dramatic event was captured on video by Simancas' father, Dell Simancas, and quickly gained enormous attention on social media. According to the report by laola1.at Adrián cried desperately: “I thought he had swallowed me!”
Fortunately, the whale spat the startled athlete out again just a few seconds later, and he remained completely unharmed. In an interview, Adrián reported that he saw something “blue and white” almost right in front of his face and did not initially realize what was happening. Experts explained that because of their relatively small mouths, humpback whales are generally unable to swallow a human whole. Marine biologist Maria Jose Perez explained that at that moment the whale probably didn't even perceive the kayak as an obstacle because it was near a feeding site with krill or fish. These types of incidents are extremely rare, Perez continued eurosport.de reported.
After Adrián resurfaced, his father could be heard shouting reassuringly: “Relax, relax!” and instruct him to hold on to the kayak to avoid sinking. A short time later, Dell helped his dazed son out of the water, pleading with him to get to shore quickly. This incredible experience remains captured both in Adrián's memory and in the viral video that arouses viewers' fascination with this unexpected encounter between man and animal.
