A shocking case has caused a stir at the regional court: a 16-year-old teenager was recently convicted after spreading extremist IS propaganda for months. Its activities, which took place from spring to fall 2023, included not only the dissemination of extremist content, but also the dissemination of Nazi symbols and pornographic depictions of a minor. The accused teenager was arrested by a task force in the fall.
The trial took place behind closed doors because the defendant is a minor. The jury found him guilty on all charges: participation in a terrorist organization and the distribution of prohibited content as well as renewed activity under the Nazi Prohibition Act. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, the sentence was surprisingly lenient: the teenager received a conditional prison sentence of one year, which means that he does not have to go to prison as long as he remains unpunished in the future.
