Cultural Festival Villach: A festival full of music and literary highlights!

The Carinthian summer 2025 will be an exciting festival for music lovers when numerous outstanding artists are on stage. Among the highlights will be the "Balkans Paradise Orchestra" from Barcelona, which performs on July 18, as well as the talented musicians of the Viennese Philharmonic, who bring the works of Johann Strauss and his contemporaries to life on July 30th. A special farewell will also be Marin Alsop as the chief conductor of the RSO Vienna, who will say goodbye to her post as festival manager on August 23 with a performance by Gershwin and Bernstein. In a unique project, Christian Muthspiel with his "Orjazztra Vienna" will present a full -length jazz work in honor of the Lyiker Ernst Jandl, while the saxophonist Yvonne Moriel will perform with her project "Sweetlife" on July 29th.

The director Nadja Kayali has also set new accents: As part of the "morning concerts", a selection of literary texts under the motto "Hope", including a reading of a fable by the imprisoned author Schenja Berkowitsch, which has been translated exclusively for the festival, is presented. Nadja Kayali is not only known for her diverse roles in art, but has also realized many different projects in the past that combine culture and social topics.

In addition, the “listening around” that is introduced this year will include all string quartets of Dmitri Schostakovich, which are played by the Eliot Quartet at change concerts. These concerts take place from July 26 to August 2 and offer music and readings in an inviting atmosphere.
