The search for the 19-year-old student Aurel S. continues. Since his absence from a student party in Melbeck, which took place on the night of October 11th to 12th, the police and the Technical Relief Agency (THW) have been trying everything to track down the missing man. Today, October 14th, the search operation was intensified again with several emergency services.
The work focuses on various forest areas and the camping/mobile home area on Uelzener Straße, where the celebration took place. Modern technologies were used during the search, including drones and a boat that searched the embankment areas along the Ilmenau. However, the search efforts have so far been unsuccessful.
Details of the last known sighting
The party at which Aurel S. was last seen was an event organized by Hamburg students. According to statements, the 19-year-old was still present around 11 p.m., but the group discovered his disappearance in the early hours of the morning. According to current information, Aurel S. was heavily intoxicated and his cell phone was found where the young man slept. The family is closely involved in the investigation and supports the police in their efforts.
The first search operations were initiated on the evening of October 12th when Aurel's friends alerted the police. Various emergency services, including mantrail dogs, set out at 1 a.m. to search the area. In the hours that followed, the search was further intensified and over 70 emergency services from the fire department, the Red Cross and other organizations were deployed.
