A dramatic traffic accident shook Heyersum on Thursday, October 24th, 2024! At 3:35 p.m. there was a crash on the B1 when a 23-year-old driver from Bad Salzdetfurth was driving his Renault Clio onto Gronauer Straße. Fatally, he overlooked the VW Touran of a 36-year-old man from Elze who was coming from the direction of Hildesheim. The collision was unavoidable and both vehicles ended up in the intersection area in a shocking condition!
No injuries, but high property damage!
For better or worse, the drivers are now faced with a heap of shambles! Fortunately, both the young driver and his counterpart remained uninjured. But the material damage is enormous – a total of 18,000 euros! Both vehicles were no longer usable and had to be towed away. And that's not all: Due to leaking operating materials, the road maintenance department took over cleaning the road in order to avoid further dangerous situations.
Despite the moment of shock, traffic got moving again quickly thanks to the dedicated emergency services. Officers ensured that waiting drivers were safely guided past the scene of the accident. A happy outcome, but a warning example for all road users!
