Serious motorcycle accident in Rösrath: Driver leaves the road
A serious motorcycle accident occurred in Rösrath on Sunday, October 20th, which triggered an intensive rescue operation. The 60-year-old driver from Pulheim was driving on Schönrather Straße towards Sülztalstraße around 3:40 p.m. For reasons that remain unclear, he lost control of his Kawasaki in a curve area and veered off the road.
The motorcyclist first broke through a grass verge before returning to the road. But luck wasn't on his side as he fell and slid along the street until he hit the guardrail on the opposite side with full force. Due to his serious injuries, the man was immediately treated on site by emergency services and then taken to a nearby hospital.
Rescue and clean-up work
After the accident, the fire department also arrived to collect fuel that was leaking from the damaged motorcycle. This shows the dangers that such accidents can pose not only for those involved, but also for the environment. The professional removal of the operating materials should prevent further damage. The material damage to the motorcycle is estimated at a mid-four-digit euro amount. In order to secure the accident site and carry out the clean-up work, Schönrather Straße was completely closed in this area, which led to an increased volume of traffic in the area.
The circumstances of the accident are currently unclear. The police have started an investigation to clarify the exact causes. It remains to be seen to what extent technical or human factors contributed to this unfortunate incident. Safety issues may also arise that are important to motorcyclists in curved areas.
