Rostock shows its flag against queer hostility: 1,500 participants at the demo!
On November 4th, 2024, the Hanseatic city of Rostock celebrated a special event that filled the streets with colors and faces! Under the motto “Stick together against queer hostility and Nazi violence,” around 1,500 people gathered to send a strong message against discrimination. Organized by CSD Rostock e.V., the impressive crowd marched through the city center and created a happy atmosphere while loudly spreading their message.
However, the demonstration, which was described as peaceful and trouble-free, also brought temporary traffic disruptions. Drivers and the use of public transport had to adapt to restrictions. But while some were patient in supporting the message of unity and acceptance, it was widely acknowledged that the event was deeply meaningful for participants despite the disruptions.
Rostock under the sign of diversity
The Rostock police station confirmed that the meeting went smoothly and no incidents were reported. This speaks to the clear message of the participants, who called for solidarity and a society without prejudice. With this event, CSD Rostock e.V. provided a very important platform to draw urgently needed attention to the challenges that anti-queer communities and individuals have to face in today's society.
This meeting was not just a simple procession, but a strong signal: Rostock stands together and says no to hate and violence. Police will continue to monitor the situation to ensure such important events remain peaceful.
