A dramatic moment occurred on Tuesday, November 12th, when a 39-year-old from Bad Driburg crashed his Ford Fiesta on the K50. The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. on a winding section: the driver lost control, hit the embankment and rolled over. Luckily he was able to get himself out of the predicament, but his injuries were not to be underestimated!
A few moments after the devastating crash, luck in misfortune came into play. A police patrol that happened to be driving on the K50 discovered the crashed car lying on its side. The emergency call was immediately made and the scene of the accident was secured. Fortunately, the driver, who went to hospital for a medical examination as a precaution, only suffered minor injuries. The damage to the vehicle is a shocking 20,000 euros - the Ford Fiesta is considered a total loss!
The background to the accident
As the police determined, the driver had come too close to the edge of the road when driving off the curve. The attempt to counter-steer ended fatally: the collision with the embankment and the subsequent rollover. This horrific scene could have ended badly, but thanks to the police's prompt response, the driver was spared serious injury. Once again it shows: Tragic accidents happen in the blink of an eye, but quick help can save lives!
