Neuss (ots)
In Neuss there were several car break-ins in just a few hours. On the night of Saturday, October 5th to Sunday, October 6th, unknown people raged on Nordkanalallee and damaged the windows of two parked vehicles. These criminal acts took place between 8 p.m. on Saturday evening and 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. The perpetrators stole personal valuables that were left in the vehicles.
Criminal Investigation Department 14 has now taken over the investigation and is trying to find out whether there is a possible connection between the two cases. In this regard, any witnesses who may have made observations are urged to contact police on 02131 3000.
Prevention measures
The police warn against the typical tactics of car manufacturing thieves. They often keep an eye on valuables such as navigation devices or cell phones, which are often left inconspicuously in the car. Cash or bank cards are also popular destinations. To avoid damage, the police strongly recommend that drivers do not store valuable items in their vehicle.
In addition, safety authorities emphasize the need to always remove the ignition key and lock all windows and doors when leaving the vehicle. If you have the opportunity, you should park your vehicle in a lockable garage or at least park it on a well-lit and busy street.
The police offer detailed advice for further tips and information on safety precautions when dealing with vehicles. Anyone interested can find this information online at www.polizei-beratung.de.
