On Friday, October 25, 2024, at exactly 11:10 a.m., there was a crash at the dangerous intersection of Kapellener Straße and Königsberger Straße. A 69-year-old Pedelec rider collided with a 38-year-old driver, resulting in a dramatic fall and serious injuries to the cyclist.
The precarious situation arose when the driver from the direction of Dreihöfeweg tried to turn right onto Kapellener Straße. At the same time, the cyclist crossed the street from Königsberger Straße in the direction of Dreihöfeweg, which ended in the serious collision. Luckily, the woman was wearing a helmet, which may have saved her life! Despite the violent fall and serious injuries, her head was protected from even worse injuries thanks to the helmet. But the helmet has cracked and now has to be replaced, which means additional costs for the Pedelec rider!

In recent weeks, two additional accidents have been documented in which helmets were able to prevent serious head injuries among cyclists, underscoring the essential importance of wearing helmets. The cyclist can take another breath, while the driver certainly couldn't do justice to the situation either, given the dramatic consequences of a brief moment of inattention.
