Knife attack at Hagen train station: Police catch suspect!

Hagen (ots)

A dramatic incident occurred on October 22nd at Hagen main train station when federal police came across an injured 47-year-old lying on the ground. The officers arrived at the scene just in time after being alerted to a physical altercation, which, however, had already resulted in an escape before they arrived. The man sustained a graphic facial injury and required immediate medical attention.

The emergency services quickly discovered a 40-year-old suspect who was involved in the altercation and arrested him at Bodelwickelh-Platz. Witnesses reported that the 40-year-old suddenly attacked the Polish citizen from behind with his fist. Surprisingly, the Hagen resident stated that the person attacked had previously pulled out a knife, which the 47-year-old justified as self-defense. During a search, a knife was eventually seized, which could further escalate the situation.

Investigations are ongoing

The federal police immediately initiated an investigation into grievous bodily harm against the 40-year-old after video recordings confirmed the man's sneaky blow. Despite his injury, the victim refused to be taken to the hospital and left the police station while the investigation continued to escalate. This incident shines a bright light on the explosive situations that can unfold in public places.
