Crime up close: The first Crime Night in Trier!
Trier (ots)
On Friday, November 22nd, 2024, Trier will be the center of the exciting “Crime Night”, an exciting event organized for the first time by the Rhineland-Palatinate Police Headquarters under the leadership of Interior Minister Michael Ebling. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. the police will open the doors at Kürenzer Straße 3 and give interested visitors a unique look behind the scenes of the criminal investigation department. “Our police in Rhineland-Palatinate not only stands for security, but also for the future and innovation,” emphasizes Ebling and invites all career candidates between the ages of 16 and 37 to experience the exciting police life up close.
What can visitors expect? An extensive supporting program with many stations that bring the exciting world of criminal investigation to life! In one scenario, for example, you can track down property crimes by simulating a shock call in which an elderly woman is deprived of her entire savings. The participants support Commissariat 13 in investigating and arresting the perpetrator. But white-collar crime is not neglected either! Developers show how criminal investigators take action against fraud worth 3 billion euros annually and what knowledge is required for this.
Fascination with criminology
In the narcotics department, participants gain exciting insights into everyday investigations: from surveillance to arrest! The challenges of modern crime are also on the agenda: How do the police respond to a cyber attack that threatens critical infrastructure? Together with the police experts, the visitors learn how they can track down the perpetrator. Another highlight is the opportunity to secure evidence at the crime scene and try out modern forensic technology.
Last but not least, the past also comes to life: In 2007, a massive sexual offense occurred in the Eifel, which was covered in the popular TV series “Aktenzeichen XY – unsolved”. Do you have what it takes to solve the case? Join us and become part of the exciting police team! In addition, the on-site recruitment advisory service provides information about the bachelor's degree in police service as well as the new fields of study in security and criminal police. An absolute must-visit for anyone dreaming of a career in the police!
