Daycare burglar arrested: police strike hard!
On the night of Friday to Saturday, the police in Minden, more precisely in Porta Westfalica, were called to an unusual incident. At around 3:10 a.m., information was received about a break-in at a daycare center on Kuhlenstrasse. When the officers arrived, they not only found the building illuminated, but also a suspected burglar.
The 37-year-old man, who is already known to the police and comes from Löhne, was temporarily arrested as he left the facility. While on site, officers also secured suspected tools that were used in the break-in. The arrest led to the accused being brought before a magistrate on the same day, who ultimately issued an arrest warrant.
More break-ins in the region
But this wasn't the only incident that made headlines in the region this weekend. Burglaries in daycare centers were also discovered on Pfarrstrasse in Porta Westfalica and on Erbeweg in Minden. The investigators assume that the break-in on Pfarrstrasse took place between Friday evening at 9 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The break-in on Erbeweg could have occurred between Friday, 7:30 p.m. and Monday, 6:50 a.m.
It is currently unclear whether and which items were stolen in these two break-ins. Clarifying the crimes, including checking whether there may be a connection to the incident on Kuhlenstrasse, is part of the current investigation. Witnesses who can provide information about the break-ins are urged to contact the police on (0571) 88660.
The events shed light on the security situation and safeguards in institutions responsible for the care of children. At a time when children's safety and well-being should be relied upon, this increase in break-ins could cause concern.
