Fight the vandals: cars damaged and license plates stolen in Reutlingen!
A series of incidents were reported in the urban area of Reutlingen on Wednesday night, causing a stir in the local community. Unknown perpetrators attacked around a dozen parked vehicles, causing property damage and theft. In total, the rear license plates of several cars were removed, while the right wing mirror of another vehicle was damaged and the left side of another vehicle was scratched. The cars were parked in various locations, including Storlachstrasse and Johannes-Eisenlohr-Strasse. The police are asking witnesses to call 07121/9611-0 to obtain further information about the incidents.
Another traffic accident report also reached the authorities on Wednesday morning. In Metzingen, a 35-year-old woman was driving her Ford Fiesta and intended to turn left onto Dettingen. She overlooked a 62-year-old man's Ford Kuga, which led to a collision in the junction area. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further evaluation. The material damage caused is estimated at around 35,000 euros. The road was completely closed until 8:30 a.m. while the accident was being investigated.
Traffic accidents in focus
There was another serious accident in Nürtingen on Wednesday morning. An 84-year-old man drove his Citroen C5 over the ramp of a correctly parked truck, which caused his vehicle to tip over. The senior citizen was able to free himself, while his 79-year-old passenger had to be rescued from the car by the fire department. Fortunately, both suffered only minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The truck remained drivable, but the Citroen had to be transported away. The European route was closed until shortly after 12 p.m. for rescue and recovery work.
In addition to the thefts and property damage in Reutlingen, the day was marked by another serious accident in Neuffen. At around 10:45 a.m., two vehicles collided head-on after a 34-year-old woman drove her Opel Corsa into the oncoming lane for reasons that are still unclear. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to a clinic. Both vehicles suffered a total loss of around 31,000 euros and the cars also had to be towed away.
In view of these incidents, it is clear that both vandalism and traffic accidents currently represent major challenges for the community of Reutlingen and the surrounding area. The police and emergency services are called upon to restore citizens' sense of security and prevent similar events in the future. The public is called upon to be vigilant and pass information on to the authorities. Such concerns are important not only for the direct investigation of the incidents, but also for the general well-being of the community.
