Burglary, fights and pickpocketing: security situation in Seevetal critical!

Seevetal, a municipality that is often in the headlines, is once again faced with several incidents that are keeping the local police busy. Various crimes were recorded between October 18 and 20, 2024, including both burglaries and assault. Citizens in particular should pay attention to their valuables and keep their eyes open these days.

One of the most alarming incidents involves a break-in in a single-family home on Ohlendorfer Weg. On Saturday afternoon, the unknown perpetrators managed to get into the kitchen of the house using a clever technique known as putty stitching. They had previously tried in vain to get in through the patio door. According to initial investigations, all rooms were searched for valuables, but what was stolen is currently unclear. Citizens who made suspicious observations during the incident are asked to report to the Harburg police station.

Further incidents: damage to property and attack on a taxi driver

Another incident occurred in Hollenstedt, where unknown perpetrators broke the window of a parked VW Up. Whether they were about to steal valuables from the vehicle remains uncertain as there were no valuables in the car. Witnesses are also urged to provide relevant information to the police.

In addition, there have been several reports of pickpocketing in Seevetal in the last few days. Perpetrators stole wallets from handbags in busy shops without being noticed. In some of these cases, several hundred euros in cash as well as cards and ID cards were stolen. The police advise people to be particularly vigilant, especially in crowds, and to never leave personal valuables unattended.

Road safety in the region is also on the police agenda. In the early hours of a Sunday, a 40-year-old from Hamburg was caught driving at a gas station with an alcohol content of 0.8 per mille. This has consequences: He has to expect a fine and a driving ban. A 21-year-old from Winsen (Luhe) had a similar experience and was checked for having a blood alcohol level of 0.86 and driving erratically. Both cases show that drunk driving will not be tolerated.

Another aspect of road safety came to light on the same weekend: an overloaded van on the A1 that weighed almost seven tons, even though the permissible total weight is only 3.5 tons. In such cases, administrative offense proceedings are initiated and the drivers involved face high fines.

These incidents highlight the need for increased vigilance in the region. For the Harburg police station, the information collected from citizens is invaluable in solving crimes and ensuring safety in Seevetal. Citizen engagement is crucial to promptly report suspicious activity and deter potential perpetrators.
