At around 2:00 p.m., a 32-year-old Mazda driver was driving towards Anklam when, for reasons that are still unclear, he crossed into the oncoming lane during a right-hand bend. This led to a collision with an oncoming MAN truck.

As a result of the collision, the Mazda struck the truck and then collided head-on with a Ford behind it. The driver of the Mazda sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital in Anklam for medical treatment. Fortunately, the other two drivers involved in the accident were uninjured.

Details about the incident

The cars involved in the accident were no longer drivable after the collision and had to be towed away. The traffic police estimate the material damage at around 50,000 euros. As a result of the accident, the B109 was completely closed for around an hour in order to carry out the accident investigation and rescue work.

According to the police, the drivers involved are all German nationals. According to First Police Chief Inspector Holger Bahls from the Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters, the exact course of the traffic offense is still an open question, as there is no clear evidence as to the cause of the lane change.
