Failed twice: Shoplifter also wants to steal a bike from the hospital!
In Nordhausen, a man who had already had several run-ins with the law was caught shoplifting on Landgrabenstrasse on Thursday afternoon. This incident leads to a series of other events that prove increasingly problematic.
The 38-year-old perpetrator tried to steal a jacket and was caught by alert store detectives. When he tried to be restrained, the man behaved extremely aggressively. This meant that the police officers who were alerted also had to provide support. The suspect offered strong resistance, which had to be overcome through the use of simple physical force. This altercation resulted in minor injuries, which were subsequently treated at a hospital.
After Shoplifting: Another Attempt
Despite medical treatment, the man did not appear to have learned from his experiences. That same day, after being discharged from the hospital, he took a look at the bicycles that were parked at the bike rack. However, he failed in his attempt to steal a bicycle by force. Although he did not manage to steal the bicycle, there was significant material damage amounting to four figures.
These incidents highlight the man's criminal energy and raise questions about how such repeat offenders are dealt with. While the police have already taken action to prosecute the shoplifting and attempted bicycle theft, it remains to be seen what further action can be taken regarding his background.
