Swiss ski men celebrate triple victory in Beaver Creek!
In Beaver Creek, the Swiss skiers celebrated a remarkable weekend in the Alpine World Cup season, despite the absence of Super-G winner Marco Odermatt. On Sunday, Thomas Tumler bushed in the shine of his first World Cup success, while Justin Murisier surprised on Friday in the departure. The Austrians, on the other hand, were very difficult with just one tenth place from Stefan Brennsteiner in the second giant slalom against the impressive Swiss dominance. According to the reports of Krone Brensteiner was motivated by the success of his teammates, but two mistakes prevented a possible top position.
Despite the challenges, Brensteiner looked positively on the course and noticed: "It actually went very well - except for the two giant bones that I shot." This positive attitude is also reflected in Tumler's career, which was hung in the balance four years ago after a herniated disc. The 35-year-old not only broke his sporting borders, but also told about the motivation behind his victory and the pride of never giving up. He spoke of an "incredibly beautiful story" when he finished 0.12 seconds ahead. Also Odermatt, who had to experience a disappointment himself again, said that "it was a special weekend with three Swiss victories", as messenger of Urschworge reported.
The head coach of the Swiss men, Tom Stauffer, could be more than satisfied with the results: "The cool thing is that there are three different winners, that's so strong." It remains to be seen how the upcoming events in Val d’Isère and Alta Badia run for the athletes, but the potential for future victories is promising. The team could benefit from other aspiring talents in the upcoming seasons who are still working on their challenges.
