Jannik Sinner will not compete at the ATP 1000 tournament in Monte-Carlo. The reason for the cancellation is a three-month doping ban that he received from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) due to the use of Chlostebol. This ban applies from February 9th to May 4th, meaning Sinner will not be allowed to return to training until April 13th and prepare for the upcoming Grand Slam tournament in Paris, which will take place from May 25th to June 8th. Despite the current situation, he remains in first place in the ATP world rankings, which underlines his sporting performance.
In an interview with “Gazzetta dello Sport” Sinner said that he had a largely calm time during the lockdown. He accepts WADA's ruling but disagrees with the procedure. Sinner speaks of unfair treatment and emphasizes that he is not responsible for administering Chlostebol. Despite these stressful circumstances, he finds comfort and hope in the support of those around him.
Doping ban and consequences
The ban imposed by WADA is related to the anti-doping regulation established by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) is monitored. This organization is responsible for managing the results of possible anti-doping violations and conducting related investigations.
