Diana Krall inspires Vienna: A jazz dream in full concert halls!

On October 25, 2025, the well-known Canadian jazz pianist and singer performed Diana Krall on two sold-out evenings in the Vienna Konzerthaus. The concerts offered audiences an exquisite performance of Krall's interpretations of the standards of the American song and jazz traditions. She was accompanied by Sebastian Steinberg on bass and Matt Chamberlain on drums, which gave the performance a lively dynamic.

In her unique style of singing and playing the piano, Krall not only delivered familiar melodies, but also new insights and creative approaches. The themes of her songs often revolved around love, which combined with her characteristic smoky voice and the slower tempo of the singing created a very special atmosphere. The pieces played included “Almost like being in love”, “All or nothing at all”, “L-O-V-E”, as well as classics such as “Fly me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra and “Let’s face the music and dance” by Nat King Cole.

Musical diversity and original works

Krall also surprised her audience with her own songs and interpreted the Beach Boys' “In my Room” in a way that revealed new dimensions. Their trio skillfully switched between different styles such as ballads, blues, quickstep and boogie, which gave each evening a varied touch.

Diana Krall is now an outstanding figure in jazz and is the only jazz singer to have managed to reach the top of the Billboard jazz charts with a total of eight albums. Her career began in her childhood: Born in Nanaimo, Canada, she began playing the piano at the age of four and continued her musical studies at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. During her career she has collaborated with jazz greats such as Ray Brown and Tommy LiPuma, which underlines her musical uniqueness.

Prizes and awards

Krall is proud of an impressive list of awards. In total, she has won 24 awards, including two Grammy Awards and ten Juno Awards. Their albums, such as "When I Look in Your Eyes", which was released in 1999 and spent 52 weeks at the top of the jazz charts, have been extremely successful both commercially and critically. Most recently, she released the album “This Dream Of You,” which is a tribute to her longtime producer Tommy LiPuma.
