192 million euros for hospitals: strong support for the region!

A huge thrust for the hospitals in Baden-Württemberg! In a crucial meeting on Tuesday (November 19), the Ministerial Council decided to provide another 192 million euros from the hospital structural fund II. These funds flow into a total of eight projects that are supposed to revolutionize the infrastructure of the clinics in the country. Among the funds funded is an important project to improve IT security, which is essential for modern health requirements. The locations Nagold, Karlsruhe, Achern, Forbach, Sigmaringen, Göppingen and Stuttgart benefit from this financial support.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann emphasizes the steadfast support of the state government for the hospitals: "We are firmly at the side of our hospitals. Especially in difficult times, we are investing in future -proof health care with modern and patient -friendly hospital structures." These investments are not only a sign of solidarity, but also a step towards optimal health care for all citizens. Health Minister Manne Lucha adds that the already good infrastructure of the hospitals receives another significant thrust through these funds. Particularly noteworthy is the central new building project of the Ortenau Clinic in Achern, which will raise medical care to a new level.

almost half a billion euros for the hospital landscape

With this third funding line, the hospital structural fund II is almost exploited, which comprises a total volume of almost 487 million euros. Of these, around 247 million euros come from federal funds and 240 million euros from state funds. In the past, important projects such as the new construction of the Central Clinic Lörrach and the promotion of IT security of 13 criticism hospitals were initiated. The new funds are now supporting another IT security project as well as six projects to concentrate supply capacities and a conversion into a stationary care facility.

But those responsible agree: In order to meet the challenges of hospitals, a comprehensive adjustment of operating costs financing by the federal government is urgently required. Kretschmann and Lucha are calling for more funds and just financing to ensure health care sustainably. Time is urged, because the remaining program volume of around 192 million euros must be planned by the end of 2024!
