FPÖ politician convicted: higher fines for covid certificate falsification!

In the case of fake Covid certificates, serious consequences for leading politicians from the Freedom Party (FPÖ) were discussed. Christian Hafenecker, the Secretary General of the FPÖ, and the former FPÖ politician Hans-Jörg Jenewein were legally convicted by the St. Pölten Regional Court for falsification. The punishments have now been drastically increased: Hafenecker now has to pay 15,300 euros, which is an increase of 5,100 euros, while that that was a fine of EUR 5,000 from previously 2,000 euros. According to OE24 , the increase is based on the number of daily rates that were set in the judgment. Hafenecker now has to pay 90 daily rates for 170 euros, and that that wine 280 daily rates for 20 euros.

The process started in July 2023, with Hafenecker and that not for negotiation. Those confessed to have issued fake test certificates between May and August 2021, which led to the investigation that was triggered by finds on his cell phone. Hafenecker, who was not guilty, is said to have used these fake certificates in order to be able to take part in a football European Championship game in Budapest in June 2021, where the presentation of a negative test was mandatory due to the health regulations at the time.
