On January 9, 2025, the city of Grevenbroich, the Rhine district of Neuss and NRW.URBAN GmbH signed the partnership agreement for the “Zukunfts.Kraftwerk Frimmersdorf Strategie GmbH”. This new company will hold 45% of the shares from the city of Grevenbroich and the Rhein-Kreis Neuss as well as 10% from NRW.URBAN. The plan is to repurpose the listed central power plant building, including a data center for IT.NRW. Other facilities that will be integrated into the concept include an educational campus and modern offices for start-ups.
