Schönborn will soon be celebrating 80: A look at his media mission!

The Archbishop of Vienna Christoph Schönborn today made a remarkable speech about his upcoming 80th birthday on January 22, 2025. He emphasized the importance of media freedom in Austria and praised the role of quality media, including the ORF. Despite the challenges of austerity and pressure on the media, he remained optimistic: “There is a fundamental goodwill for one another,” said Schönborn, while he also confirmed that he would continue as media bishop until the handover of office, without naming his successor. This information was reported by ORF, which added that Schönborn's reference to the positive relationships between religion and media sheds light on the current discourse about the role of journalism in society.

A century of Caritas – a reason to celebrate

In 2024, Caritas will celebrate its 100th anniversary and reflect on a long history of valuable aid services. The organization supports people in need not only in Austria but worldwide by providing care and support, people with disabilities, single parents, homeless people and refugees.
