Shock in Munich: Car crashes into crowd at union demo!

On February 14, 2025, a shocking incident occurred in Munich during a peaceful demonstration by the ver.di union: a car drove into a crowd, injuring at least 30 people, some of them seriously. FCG federal chairwoman and ÖGB vice-president Romana Deckenbacher was deeply affected by the events. In a statement, she stressed that if it turns out to be a targeted attack, it must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. “Extremism and terrorism have no place in our society,” she added, underlining the importance of solidarity in such difficult times OTS reported.

Right-wing extremist provocations at the crime scene

The situation escalated further when, shortly after the incident, right-wing extremist groups tried to exploit the crime for their own purposes. People who were identified as wearing clothing from the neo-Nazi group “The Third Way” showed up at the crime scene and shouted provocative slogans. The police quickly intervened and stopped the provocations. Police Vice President Christian Huber confirmed these incidents in a press conference Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.

Although a demonstration from the so-called lateral thinker scene is planned for next Saturday, which will lead past the crime scene, the organizers are in talks with the Munich police to avoid possible complications. The group has said it will not be intimidated by police and still plans to hold its demonstration.
