Robberies in Vienna: young people and e-scooter perpetrators in their sights!

On Wednesday, June 19, 2025, two violent robberies occurred in Vienna within a few hours. The first incident occurred at Friedrich-Engels-Platz in Brigittenau, where two girls of the same age threatened a 14-year-old girl. They picked up a knife and used physical force, which resulted in the victim becoming unconscious. The perpetrators were able to escape with cash, while the girl had to be taken to hospital with severe pain in her face. The police are currently searching for those responsible.

The second robbery took place in Waldmüllerpark in Favoriten. Here a 32-year-old mother and her five-year-old son were the target of an unknown perpetrator. He approached on an e-scooter, circled the mother and hit her in the chest before violently tearing a gold chain from the woman's neck. This perpetrator also then fled towards the Margaret Belt. The State Criminal Police Office has already taken over the investigation in this case.

Solving a previous robbery

Another remarkable case was recently solved. On June 7, 2025, the Vienna police reported that four young people aged 14 and 15 were arrested for a robbery on an express train. This incident took place on April 21, 2025 and targeted a victim who violently lost his bank card. The perpetrators initially asked for one euro before using violence. One of the youths punched the victim in the face while the others threatened him with a switchblade and forced him to hand over the PIN code.

After the crime, the young people fled at the Vienna-Westbahnhof station. They used the stolen bank card to make several unlawful withdrawals of money. A public search by the police ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the four suspects, who have since confessed and been transferred to a prison.

These incidents cast a worrying light on the security situation in Vienna. While society is increasingly concerned about such acts, there remains hope that investigative authorities can hold the perpetrators accountable. Education and prevention are essential to prevent future attacks. According to Krone and Vienna.at, police efforts are already in full swing, while ORF Vienna also reported on the comprehensive measures to combat crime.
